Individual Artist Grants

Individual Artist Grants support and enable artists to grow professionally and enhance the cultural climate of Livingston and Monroe Counties. The program looks for proposals of high artistic merit which directly benefit the community and engage a segment of the community through a public program, such as an exhibition, or performance that is open to the general public, and/or the inclusion of community involvement in the development and creative process of the artist’s project.

Grants are awarded in the amount of $2500 and are available to artists interested in creating new work within a community context. These competitive grants are based on the artistic merit of work samples, a strong interface between the community and the creative process, and a clearly defined, innovative project.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have resided in Livingston or Monroe County for at least one year before the application deadline, and not be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Please review the Individual Artist Guidelines on our “Forms and Documents” page to ensure you or your project is eligible for funding.

Applicants must consult directly with the Program Coordinator before applying. Assistance in developing a program and writing your grant is available by contacting the Program Coordinator, at 585.243.6785 or  melissa@gvartscouncil.org.
